To quickly recap what are the Millenium Development Goals are?

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce childhood mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a global partnership for development
There are many ways to achieve each of these goals. Each depends on the country and their political, social and economic structures. However, many nations are interested in improving their reach in the world economy by having better technology infrastructures. How can we use the power of the internet and new technology to help reach the above MDGs?
Here are 8 recommendations:
1. Mobile technologies can help inform citizens of life-saving information
2. Technology and collective knowledge enables communities to build better systems for climate adaptation and mitigation
3. Exchanges of information are essential to all vast social changes. According to the World Association for Christian Communication, "Whatever one thinks of Millennium Development Goals, providing access to information and knowledge helps address issues related to poverty, education, health, politics and environment."
4. Providing a platform for increasing awareness of citizens internationally, especially important to areas like the Asia-Pacific region--where 2/3 of the worlds poorest live (641m people). According to Minar Pimple, Asia's Deputy Director of UN Millennium Campaign, "the media has the power to give voice to the voiceless".
6. Technology (should) strategically connect constituents and political participants
7. Social media's transparency enables constituents to hold governments accountable
8. Giving women technology and empowering them to be digital citizens, according to UNGAID, empowers everybody
